Education for Citizenship and Coexistence is a fundamental commitment of the educational policy in the Bogotá Humana, directly linked to the notion of quality public education, is the result of intentional processes of academic excellence and comprehensive training, based on developing essential citizenship skills.
The structure, objectives and targets in this project arise from the diagnosis made by the Secretaría de Educación del Distrito -SED- in 2012, about how this sector historically had assumed citizenship education, participation, coexsistence, attention to violence and school safety. This exercise helped to identify important experiments conducted by the SED and educational institutions, related to various areas that strengthened training in citizenship and gave some insight into common conceptual basis, pedagogical guidelines and management in the territory that allowed include education for citizenship and coexistence as a fundamental part of educational quality.
So there is the need to formulate an investment project, which is currently being developed as a teaching commitment conceptual, strategic and integrated management, which has four main objectives and betting:

The SED seeks the integral formation, understood as the possibility of harmonizing the importance of knowledge for citizens living with the academic knowledge recognized by law in education. To do this, it is necessary to work on strengthening the capacities of reflective subjects that generate transformation of social reality.
The citizenship and coexistence curriculum integration
The curriculum seeks to integrate the theoretical knowledge in areas such as social and human sciences, biology and mathematics, among others, are associated with civic coexistence and common practices, traditional knowledge and feelings of life, transcending cognitive order and involving the experiential plane.
